San Francisco’s Mission District Neighborhood Guide

When Micah & I first started Sparking Young Duo we wrote about one of our Saturday adventures to the Mission District. Now that we’ve explored the area a bit more we wanted to share a real neighborhood guide for the Mission District, so here’s an updated version of our old post with many more delicious recommendations! The Mission is a close walk from our current place so we tend to frequent it quite a bit and it’s also the one neighborhood we take any out of town visitors to just to give them a real taste of San Francisco (:

WHERE TO EAT

Curry Up Now is one of the first places I tried any type of Indian food and their unique spin on Indian street food is so delicious! My personal favorite is the Chicken Makhini Butter Bowl, so good! Micah really likes their Chicken Tikki Masala Bowl!

Media Noche is our go to Cuban spot for empanadas and pretty Instagram pictures (: Everything from the floors to the bathrooms in this place are so cute!

Taqueria Cancún is THE place to go for “Mission burrito”. It’s a slightly sketchy looking place, but I promise it’s totally fine & you’ll love it! A side tip, it’s a cash only establishment so be sure and have some on you. In case you forget though, there’s an ATM, no worries!

Ken Ken Ramen is one of our top ramen spots, so if you’re in a ramen mood, give this place a try! Remember “No Ramen, No Life” as Ken Ken’s motto goes (:

Smitten Ice Cream is worth a visit if you have room for dessert, their Rosé flavor is my latest favorite!

Dandelion Chocolate is a must visit for any chocolate fanatic, this place is at the top of our favorite list of things in the Mission! While you’re there, sample all the different chocolates and order yourself the brownie bite flight, your taste buds will be heaven! (:

WHERE TO FIND COFFEE & TEA

Four Barrel Coffee is a cool place to sit & chat! It’s got a great atmosphere, the baristas are always willing to strike up a conversation and the coffee is delicious (:

Ritual Coffee Roasters is another good coffee spot to check out!

Samavor Tea Bar has a very zen environment with some of the most amazing teas & chai’s you’ll ever try! Very much worth a visit, especially if you’re a tea person.

WHERE TO SHOP & STUFF

Ampersand is one of the cutest flower shops we’ve come across in SF! They always have an amazing selection of flowers & the service is impeccable ♡ It’s our number one flower spot for sure!

Dog Eared Books is a nice little bookstore with quite the selection of new & old books! Stop in to grab something to read while you lay out in Dolores Park on a sunny afternoon (:

Azalea is a stylish boutique store that Micah & I have come to love. It’s got an amazing selection of clothing that’s well priced as well!(:

People’s Barber Shop is a great place to stop in for all you gentlemen who may need a little trim up top.

& really these are just a few of our personal favorites, but if you walk down Valencia St. in the Mission District you’ll come across tons of lovely boutique shops and restaurants that are totally worth trying out!
