A Weekend Guide to Palm Springs

Weekend Guide to Palm Springs

I’m so happy to finally share with you all our guide to Palm Springs! Now if I’m being honest, (which of course I am) I didn’t think this trip was going to be as wonderful as it turned out to be. The first reason being I hate the heat and I don’t love the sun. The second reason, Micah and I both burn very easily and red isn’t really our color, you know? You’ll be happy to hear though that this may have been one of our favorite weekend trips of late! Palm Springs was a perfect balance of getting to experience the fun sights that come with visiting a new place and still having plenty of time to relax and sip margaritas by the pool. Now here’s what we did over the weekend as well as some things we plan to do next time around! (:

ace hotel palm springs

Ace Hotel & Swim Club – Top of our recommendation list right here (: Unfortunately we missed our chance at staying here this go around, but next time it will not be a mistake we make. This place had everything you could possibly want for a hotel in the middle of the desert. The pool has a constant party going on, the diner has awesome food, and just about everything is Instagram worthy!

The Saguaro – This place is nice just a little too much color for my taste, but if that’s your jam, here ya go! Party by the pool, a great bar, and tons of colorful Instagram opportunity all right here!

Korakia Pensione – If you’re more interested in a romantic quiet getaway this Moroccan / Mediterranean-themed hotel is perfect! Moderately priced for the lovely resort it is and beautiful desert vibes to give you a great weekend getaway.

King’s Highway – This roadside diner at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club was one of our favorite spots in Palm Springs. I think we ended up eating here three times during the weekend (: Everything on the menu is delicious especially the tacos! Cool thing about this spot is it was formerly a Denny’s restaurant and is now a cute bohemian style diner with the Ace vibes all over it.

El Jefe – Located within the Saguaro hotel with amazing Tequila & Mexican street food, this place was definitely worth the visit. Plus, the hibiscus margaritas here are SO GOOD!

Cheeky’s – Oh my goodness, talk about a delicious brunch! We ate here our last day in Palm Springs and did not regret it!

Ernest Coffee – The perfect local cafe in Palm Springs, this place was our go-to coffee spot over the weekend. The baristas here were the sweetest! The conversation & coffee here was perfect and the location in downtown Palm Springs was convenient to grab a coffee and do a little shopping downtown.

Places we’d like to try next time:

Workshop Kitchen + Bar

Frank in a Bun

In case you get tired of chilling by the pool all day, here are a few things to do in the middle of the desert (:

Joshua Tree National Park – Worth the drive, this place was breathtaking! We recommend visiting around sunrise or sunset for the best photos and views. If you’re into hiking there are some good trails and if not, it’s just as nice to drive through the park and make stops along the way!

Moorten Botanical Garden & Cactarium – One of our favorite sites was this adorable cactus garden! Once you’ve walked through & taken tons of cactus photos, you’ll be tempted to walk away with your own cute cactus or succulent (which is exactly what happened to us). I now have a little cactus sitting on my desk and it’s just the cutest!

Salvation Mountain – So you may think you’re out in the middle of nowhere while in Palm Springs, but let me tell you this place is literally the middle of nowhere! As Micah called it, “the donut hole of nowhere.” It’s an hour & a half drive from Palm Springs, but kind of cool place to see. If you do make the trek out, I recommend not going in the middle of the day as it was really freaking hot! If you have the time, go check it out though (:

Mirror House – A beautiful art installation by Doug Aitken that overlooks Palm Springs, in the form of a mirrored ranch house sounded like a really cool place to visit! Unfortunately, the exhibit was closed when we went. Next time though!

#ThatPinkDoor – A door that has its own hashtag! Of course, you have to get a photo (:
